How to play free fantasy cricket on FreeLineup Fantasy

This page explains, in simple steps, how to use FreeLineup Fantasy to play 100% free fantasy cricket for upcoming matches. No deposits, no entry fees, no real money – only your cricket knowledge and strategy.

Before you start

✅ You must be 18 years or older.

✅ You must accept our Terms & Responsible Gaming policy.

✅ You understand that there is no real-money gaming or cash prize.

The simple 4-step flow

You can think of FreeLineup Fantasy as a simple loop: create account → join upcoming contest → build team → track points and rank. Here is the big picture in four steps:

1

Create free account

Sign up on the website with basic details and confirm that you are 18+.

2

Pick an upcoming contest

Browse upcoming cricket matches in the lobby and choose a contest for that match.

3

Build your fantasy XI

Use credits and role limits to select batters, bowlers, all-rounders and a keeper.

4

Watch points & rank

As the real match happens, your team scores points and your rank updates on the leaderboard.

Step 1: Create your free web account

You only need to create an account once. After that, you can log in from any browser (mobile or desktop) using the same details.

Quick 3-step registration

  1. Basic details: Choose a username and password.
  2. Age confirmation: Confirm you are 18 years or older.
  3. Agreement: Accept our Terms, Privacy Policy and Responsible Gaming notice.

✔ No OTP required for sign-up.
✔ No email verification needed at registration stage.
✔ No KYC or bank details because we do not run real-money gaming or cash contests.

Logging in

Once registered, use the same credentials on the Login page to access:

  • Dashboard (overall view of your account)
  • My Contests (all matches you joined)
  • My Teams (all lineups you created)
  • Leaderboards (your rank vs others)

Forgot your password? Use the Forgot Password option to reset it safely.

Step 2: Pick an upcoming cricket contest

After logging in, you will see a list of upcoming cricket matches. Each match can have one or more free fantasy contests you can join.

Contest lobby basics:

  • Match info: teams playing, format (T20/ODI/Test), date and start time.
  • Contest type: free entry fantasy cricket contest for that match.
  • Deadline: time till which you can create or edit your team.

You can join multiple contests across different upcoming matches. Because everything is free, there is no limit from a payment point of view. However, we still encourage you to play at a pace that feels comfortable and fun.

Joining a contest

  1. Open the lobby and choose an upcoming match you are interested in.
  2. Select a contest linked to that match (for example: “Free T20 Classic”).
  3. Click on “Join” or “Create Team” to enter the team builder.

Note: All contests on FreeLineup Fantasy are free entry with no cash prize. Your “reward” is your rank, points and bragging rights.

Step 3: Build your fantasy XI

In the team builder, you create your fantasy XI for the selected match. You need to respect role limits and a total credit limit. This keeps the game balanced and rewards smart choices.

Typical team structure (example)

This is an example structure – your exact limits will be shown inside the app:

  • 1–3 wicket-keepers (WK)
  • 3–6 batters (BAT)
  • 1–4 all-rounders (AR)
  • 3–6 bowlers (BOWL)
  • Maximum total credits (for example: 100 credits)

Credits system

Each player is assigned a credit value based on form, role and expected impact. While choosing players, your total credits used must stay within the allowed limit.

This prevents everyone from simply picking all star players and makes strategy more important – you must find value picks and balance your squad.

Choosing Captain & Vice-Captain

After selecting your XI, you choose a Captain (C) and a Vice-Captain (VC). These roles apply scoring multipliers.

  • Captain score = base points × higher multiplier (for example 2x).
  • Vice-Captain score = base points × lower multiplier (for example 1.5x).

Pick these roles carefully – they can decide your final rank.

Editing & locking your team

  • You can edit your team any number of times before the contest deadline.
  • Once the match starts, the contest locks and you cannot change your XI.
  • Points are then calculated based on real match performance and our scoring rules.

For the exact scoring breakdown (runs, wickets, catches, strike rate, etc.), please see our Rules & Scoring page.

Step 4: Follow live points and rank

As the real cricket match is played, your fantasy team starts earning points. You can see how each player performs and how your total points compare with other users in the contest.

Live scoring view

  • See each player’s real match stats and fantasy points.
  • View which players are Captain and Vice-Captain in your team.
  • Track how your total points are changing during the match.

This helps you understand which kind of decisions – picking openers, death bowlers, all-rounders, etc. – are working best over time.

Contest leaderboard

The leaderboard shows how you rank compared to other users in the same contest.

  • Your rank and total points.
  • Top teams and their total scores.
  • Final standings after the match completes.

Because there are no cash prizes, the main reward is recognition and your own improvement as a fantasy cricket strategist.

Simple tips for better fantasy teams

• Check likely playing XI news and avoid players who might be benched.

• Balance stable performers with 1–2 risky picks for upside.

• Look at match conditions (batting pitch vs bowling-friendly pitch).

• Pay attention to batting order and bowling roles (new ball vs death overs).

• Do not always copy others – trust your own reading of form and match-ups.

• Review your past teams on the Profile/My Teams section to see patterns.

• Treat each contest as a chance to learn more about the game.

• Take regular breaks and keep fantasy cricket as a fun hobby.

Safety, age limits & legal note (India)

FreeLineup Fantasy is designed as a free-to-play fantasy cricket game. However, it still involves competition and decision-making, so we keep a careful and transparent approach to safety and compliance.

  • You must be 18+ to create an account and play on FreeLineup Fantasy.
  • We do not offer real-money gaming, betting, cash prizes or withdrawals.
  • All contests are free entry and based on real cricket matches and user skill.
  • Laws around online games and fantasy formats can differ by Indian state and may change.
  • This is particularly important for users from states such as Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim and Telangana, which are known to have stricter rules for certain types of online gaming.

We encourage you to understand the local rules that apply to you before playing and to treat fantasy cricket as entertainment, not as a source of income. For more detail, please read our Responsible Gaming and Terms & Conditions.
